Our Story
Owning alpacas is an ongoing Telluride
adventure for our family.  We came to
Telluride when our children were young and
fell in love with the area.

The more time we spent in Telluride, the
more we wanted to establish deeper roots.
We were lucky enough to meet Gale and
Jan Chappel who had begun raising alpacas
on Hastings Mesa at their Gray Head Ranch

In December 2002, we bought a pregnant
white female, Thunder, and a dark brown
maiden, Hani, and began boarding them at
Gray Head Ranch.  Through breeding, we
now have six more alpacas—Lena, Felix,
Liesl, Emil, Tessa and Beatrice.  You can
check them out under “Alpacas for Sale”.

We sell my Kim Perutz Designs alpaca hand
knits and hand knitting kits plus other fine
products from the AFCNA Co-op at the
Telluride Farmer’s Market on Fridays in the
summer.  This website extends our “selling
season” year round.  We invite you to share
in our adventure and discover what is so
good about alpaca from Telluride.

All this began because I love to knit!  Ever
since my grandmother taught me at age 6, I
have been knitting just about every chance I
can--long car trips, in meetings and on
mountaintops are especially good.  I enjoy
sharing my passion for knittting with others.
I teach knitting classes and workshops at
The Ah Haa School for the Arts in Telluride
as well as other places throughout the year.
